THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM

GLORY TO GOD!

After the flood...

Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.
They said to each other, (did not consult with God The Father) " Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly."

They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, " Come, let us build our selves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building.
The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.

This is where the name Babylon comes from, the place that men began to build apart from God was then called Babel, because the LORD confused the language of those who who began to build without Him.

Unless The LORD build a house it is built in vain.
The Word doesn't say that men can't build apart from God, it teaches that it can built but it will not glorify God.

The chief cornerstone, the foundation of the building must glorify God.

Out of the house of Shem one of Noah's sons would come Terah and from Terah would come Abram.

Now The LORD had said to Abram:
"Get thee out of your country,
From your family
And from your father's house,
To a land that I will show you.

I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great;
And you shall be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;

And in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed."

Genesis 12:1-3
And in you Abram shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

How do you think that was made possible?
How could all the families of the earth be blessed?

Was every family in the earth going to be rich with cattle, servants, flocks, land and gold?

A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ the son of David, the son of Abraham:
Abraham was the father of Isaac,
Isaac the father of Jacob,
Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers and generations later...
and Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.

The LORD Jesus said that we would always have the poor with us.

Those who believe in Him can never be poor.

The truly poor man will always be the man who doesn't know Christ intimately.
The man who doesn't know The LORD as Saviour is the poor man.

The poor man can build and obtain fame and wealth but he will never be wealthy.

The Blessing of Abraham isn't material.

In The seed of Abraham came from God the opportunity for all men on this earth to be saved.

The blessing of Abraham is Christ Jesus.
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Through Abraham and Isaac God The Father showed a type and shadow of what He would do for all men.
Abraham took Isaac to offer him up as a sacrifice at God's request, yet God stopped Abraham from taking Isaac's life, because it was through Isaac that Christ would come.

God The Father would do for us In Christ Jesus what Abraham had demonstrated.

The gift of God and The Blessing of Abraham is the Saviour of the world, Jesus Christ our LORD.
