GLORY TO GOD!
I'm late with this blog post because we had a thunder storm that took our power out last night at 9:00pm and we just got our power back.
Bless God!
In Genesis 12:2 God the Father told Abraham:
... I will make you and your seed a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.
Is anybody out there blessed?
I mean are you really blessed?
Because I know a testimony can be in sharing words of encouragment, but is anybody out there blessed in there pocket like the Word says we can be blessed by standing on faith?
Bless somebody then.
And you shall be a blessing.
Did you know that God meets most of our natural needs through other people?
According to that scripture He meets our needs not only for us but so that we in turn have the ability to meet the needs of others.
Not just the folks we know or like.
There is a movie "Seven Pounds" starring Wil Smith where his character has this twisted concept that he would bless folks who he deemed were deserving because in his eyes they were "good people".
They met a criteria that he created.
I am so glad that God doesn't move like that.
And I know that will blow a whole lot of folks concept of superiority to know that they are not the exception to the rule.
How many of you know that God in all of His grace blessed sinful man who is and was anything but deserving?
It's by grace baby!
It was by God's grace with you and it will be by His grace with me.
Paul in his letter to the church at Philippi told them that His God would supply all of their needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Not that God would meet their need because they deserved it or measured up to a certain standard.
Their standard would change when they recognized the grace that had been shown them.
A sinners standard changes when it recognizes the grace of God.
Like In Christ most of us, our standard was changed.
Because before Jesus was my Lord I had done nothing deserving of His grace and right now I still don't meet the level of being able to call myself deserving with Him for all that He has done for me.
Undeserving and made worthy only through Christ.
Some of us believe that it's what we have done that make us desrving of the favour.
Paul wasn't just saying this to any old group , He was saying this to a congregation that when no one else would or could sow into the ministry of the gospel, the Philippians did.
That's faith.
When no one cared to assist this man in getting to where he needed to be there was a group of folks who said, "We are going to sow into this."
We are going to get up at 4:30 am to go and receive children so that their parents and them can learn of Jesus in love.
This is how God is.
Nobody could take us before the throne clean and present us undefiled before God but Jesus.
So God said, I will sow into these who are neither deserving nor understanding, not any seed, but my only begotten, my most precious seed.
The Philippians were the men through which the Father worked to get blessing to Paul and Timothy, putting the Philippians in a position to have their needs met through the hands of men.
Not all needs can be met through the hands of men, because rain, snow or fire from heaven might be the need, in which case this is coming directly from God at the request of a man.
Our prayers, the prayers of the righteous make great power available.
I needed electricity today so God worked through the men at DTE to get that to me.
But a man can physically give you his cow for milk.
Folks are trying to interfere with my blog posts and my Internet connection but God is working through men to stop that as well.
There are things that the Lord blesses His children with strictly through the people who share His heart.
There are things that the Father has given you that are not for you, because you know that you don't need one more of them.
He gave them to you because He knew that he could trust you to transfer it.
Yep! that's how He does it, because money really doesn't grow on trees.
Neither does the teaching of the truth.
So just knowing Philippians 4:19 as a memory verse is not all we are called to do, we are actually going to have to be the hand that meets the need.
If a child's nose is dripping with snot, I don't simply say, "Dry up in the name of Jesus".
I do proclaim healing over the child but I get a Kleenex and say, blow.
Somebody might need a hug.
Somebody might need groceries.
Somebody might need shoes or a plane ticket.
Somebody might need the number to a rehab.
Somebody might need to know that God loves them.
Because the love of God shed abroad in our hearts blesses other folks.
There should never be a shortage of help in God's house.
Our help does come from the LORD who made heaven and earth but you gonna have to help your neighbor carry those heavy boxes to the car.
This is how you recognize and understand the love of God, because Jesus gave his life for us when we were in need of a redeemer, we should have no problem giving of our selves where our brothers and sisters In Christ are concerned.
The bible asks the question:
Who is the man or woman that God has blessed that when he sees the need of his brother or sister, shuts off all thoughts of being the one to assist that brother or sister?
Oh, I know they need help but what can I do?
I can't help everybody!
They have to learn how to work their faith...
I ain't saying that you have to help everybody, I'm saying do what God put on your heart to do.
The Word asks, Where is the love of God found in this person?
Don't stand in line with folks watching them struggle and you have a billfold full of money.
You be the blessing.
In the children's church where I serve we stick together and flow like water.
If we are short of volunteers in one room the leaders in that room inform the ministers in our City Hall.
The ministers will then call on folks from another area to go fill in the gap.
If the Aquarium is short of workers and lets our ministerial staff at City Hall know, the ministers are not going to respond by just saying, "Don't be weak in faith, believe you receive" and then get off of the radio and go back to doing what they were doing and never ever talk to them or say anything else to them again.
Like miraculously angel workers from heaven are going to swing in through the windows like ninja volunteers.
No, they are going to physically give the support.
Somebody helped you, now you help somebody.
I wasn't raised in a home like my husband where he was the baby and all of his siblings were grown and working and could shower him or help him with money and gifts.
I am the oldest so I didn't have that luxury.
I'm the one who has people coming to my house to eat, and borrow, and eat, and borrow, and eat, and then eat some more.
Go in your bathroom and tear it apart with a stench and then take home your Tupperware, but they never ever bring anything?
Trust I do not always like these people but I love them.
I'm talking I have relatives who when they leave my house they literally leave with a microwave oven.
You don't even ask them to bring anything because it just won't ever materialize, because all they ever do is come to take.
There is a reason why I don't call on some folks for help, because I know I ain't gonna get any.
If I see a need that needs to be met in someone else that I know I can meet, with all the word that I have inside of me it don't mean anything to just give a scripture if I don't help meet that need.
I won't walk past trash and wait for somebody else to pick it up so I know I ain't gonna wait around when the Lord has told me to move.
I know that because I obey God and do the job by blessing others, God is going to see to it that when I need to eat, somebody will see to it that they obey God on my behalf.
Stop trying to work other folks faith for them.
Stop and see if it's your faith that really needs the push.
BE THE BLESSING.
