WHAT DOES FAITH DO?

IT TAKES GOD AT HIS WORD.

A person of Faith takes God at His Word even when this person may have made poor choices.
They repent and go to God returning to the righteous way.
I will never be more right than God is.

And the advice of folks who tell you anything other than what is written in scripture will never be more right than God is either.

Go back to the garden about every issue.
God said one thing and the serpent said something else.

People will say things to try and make you feel comfortable about making poor choices.

Love doesn't do that.

I have listened to people say that they have great faith.
I have heard folks say that their faith is strong.
Yet the Word of God is not what they follow, stand on, or even know.

You can show folks what God has instructed man to do, show them where they missed it and how it can be corrected through the Father, but anyone who can't receive correction lacks faith.

Yes I said it.

Faith doesn't come through rituals it comes by hearing and understanding the Word of God.

Faith is developed by obeying God's Word.
When God told Abraham to get up and leave his father and family and go, Abraham got up and left.
Abraham walked away from a group that was following something that had no power.
Abraham was blessed and made to be a blessing because he believed God.

Abraham stopped following the moon worship of his relatives and came to follow the instruction and guidance of the One True Living God.

When I speak of faith I am not speaking of customs.
A custom can become nothing more than an obligation.
Obligations don't reflect honor or reverence.

The commands of God are followed out of reverence and love towards God.
Love is stronger and more powerful than any obligation.
Religion is obligated.
Faith works by Love.

You don't have to do handstands to get God's attention, all you have to do is trust Him and that trust is displayed in living as He has commanded in His Word.
The trust is developed through time spent in God's Word.

I am commanded to have faith but my reverence for God was developed when I learned how much He loved me.
His love for me drew me to know and obey Him.

Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Faith doesn't just come because you say you have it.
Romans 10:17 teaches that it develops by hearing and understanding the Word of God.
If we don't seek to know God, we can't develop confidence or trust in Him.

Without Gods Word we would not have known His love for us as described throughout it.
John 3:16
We would not know of our covenant through Abraham and Jesus.

How God loves us, how merciful and long suffering He has been towards mankind.
How He made a way of escape for sinful man through Jesus Christ His Son.

How He transforms us from servants to sons.
How He heals all of our diseases through Christ.

How He opens His arms to those who come to Him and repent.
How gracious He is towards us.

How God has given Holy Spirit to guide and dwell in the believer.
How Jesus comes to dwell in the born again man.

How He gives us beauty for ashes.
How God is not mocked or fooled by the wicked and they shall be dealt with.

How these days that we live in were spoken of and are coming to pass.

What Faith does is it knows these promises and faith expects these promises.
Faith lives by these promises.
Faith follows the Word above everything else.

Joshua 1:8, Hebrews 11:1,6
FAITH IS THE SUBSTANCE AND THE EVIDENCE
