...Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If you continue in my Word, then are you my disciples indeed:
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:31,32
A whole lot of people profess to be a part of some religion that honors Jesus Christ as Lord.
Many people celebrate Easter.
A whole lot of folks claim that they are Christians, been baptized, know the Word, go to church, have told the Lord use me as you will.
But very few continue in His Word.
Very few have made a real commitment.
Do you know why people like to live together without being married?
Without signing on the dotted line?
Because it doesn't require a commitment, they want all of the advantages without the real responsibility.
Almost like volunteer work, it's good to observe and come when you want to come but when you decide you just don't feel like it anymore you can just not show up and it won't be a big deal because after all you really didn't commit your self to it.
Like diets and relationships.
You have the advantage of appearing like you are a servant when you really want to serve your own best interest.
A man can call you his woman and receive the benefits of a wife with absolutely no responsibilities to you as a husband without marrying you because you allow it.
The man can have his cake and eat it too, and whenever he gets ready he can split with no ties legally and you are left with crumbs and of emotional and spiritual ties.
God is not like that , He has committed His Son and His Spirit to us and we have entered into a covenant with Him yet we keep withdrawing from our end of the contract.
This is why we as people continue to be bound in our finances, in our relationships, in our physical bodies and minds.
We don't make a decision to be committed to anything that will be a real blessing to others as well as our selves.
If we commit our way unto God as a regular habit he is sure to make whatever we are striving for that will give glory to Him come to pass.
First and foremost our lives and conversation should be giving glory and honor to Him.
We do that by managing it the way that He instructs us to.
This is deeper than dressing up and going to church once a week.
Many philosophies and opinions are floating around in these days but none of them has the power to set us free from the the issues that are causing our blood pressure to rise, aches and pains to develop in our bodies at an alarming rate, anxiety to increase, and even causing decent people to lose all moral judgement.
If Jesus Christ is our Lord He is Lord of our decision making.
He's not Lord of the honey baked ham or colored boiled eggs and jelly beans that we eat once a year and then we pack Him away until next spring.
Jesus gave clear instruction on how to follow Him.
The Lord said, If you continue in my Word, then are you my disciples.
If and Then
If you live this way...
Then you are this.
If you do it this way then you belong to me.
Does God's Word have a place in you?
Does it have a place in your every day decisions?
Think about this for real.
Because what we do as a people is put things off for later and hope for the best instead of finding out what is required and doing it.
You know that your children need to go to college so why would you be earning $150,000
a year for most of their young lives and not put money away for their tuition?
So that you can have a house on a hill?
To strap them with that stress?
That is your responsibility to provide for their education.
Instead we teach them to blow their money and hope for the best.
And then we blame the government and politicians for what we didn't do.
And wonder why they gain weight, do drugs, smoke, get drunk and are sexually promiscuous.
Because they can't cope and they haven't been taught how.
We took that cruise, we are going to Chicago to shop, have to have all of these material things at the expense of stressing my child and my self out.
That's baloney and God doesn't operate like that.
Bible students if we continue in the Word not just studying it to prove someone else but to prove to our selves the plan that God has designed for us by following it, then we will know the truth that truth will free us from the bondage of wrong decision making and we will be disciples in deed.
You want all blessings to go your way.
Psalm 37:5
John 15:9
