THANK YOU FATHER.
What a pleasure and a blessing to serve The living God.
To honor the LORD with my life the way that He honored me with His.
Who is good?
God is :)
There was a young man who ran to the Lord Jesus and knelt down before Him, and began asking Him, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
He answered the young man saying, You know the commandments, 'DO NOT MURDER, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, DO NOT STEAL, DO NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS, DO NOT DEFRAUD, HONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER.'
And the young man said to The LORD, "Teacher, I have kept all these things from my youth up."
And looking at him, Jesus felt a love for him, and said to him,
"One thing you lack: go and sell all that you possess, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
But at these words his face fell, and he went away form Jesus grieved, for he was one who owned much property.
The Lord's answer grieved the young man.
It must not have been what he was expecting.
If he came to the LORD Jesus with the question he must have believed that Jesus had the answer that he was searching for, so what was grievous about the answer?
You would have thought that he LORD asked him to pull his fingernails off with hot pliers.
Was this young man thinking,' I thought The Rabbi said that we would always have the poor with us, why would He ask me to give up my possessions?'
Why is He asking me to give up my lifestyle for the poor?
Was the young man thinking, 'Surely money is a useful tool that would help propel His ministry?'
Note the LORD didn't ask that the money be placed in His hands, Jesus gave instruction to give it to the poor.
Was the young man thinking, 'This can't be God because I am Abraham's seed and I am blessed to be a blessing and that blessing could only mean a couple of things and they include land, silver and gold for me not someone else who probably doesn't deserve it?'
How did they become poor anyway, lazy.
They may have become poor because they were enslaved and denied opportunity.
We don't know the exact thoughts that went through this poor young man's heart and mind, what we do know is that he walked away from eternal life, he turned his back on Jesus in exchange for the great wealth that he had here on this earth.
Look at our world and compare his mindset with the minds and politics of today.
Biblical World View.
The Word is so alive.
The LORD felt a deep sympathy towards this young man because it was evident that this poor boy had been taught that by his own power he would be able to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
His response was that he had kept the law from his youth up.
The Santa Clause theory.
But when the LORD added that there was something that this young man had been lacking it revealed that the rich young one really didn't want to know how to have eternal life, because he already believed that he had it based on his deeds or personal integrity.
LISTEN
Jesus showed that integrity doesn't abuse it's status or position.
Jesus showed that integrity doesn't put the poor last.
Jesus showed that no man comes to the Father except it be through Christ.
We don't get let in by our grandmother's who have gone on before us.
They prayed and introduced the way to us but we have to choose Jesus for our selves.
This young man simply wanted confirmation that he was good and when the LORD didn't confirm it, this poor man walked away grieved.
He was looking for the 'Well done my good and faithful servant.'
There is none good but God.
It's not ironic that the LORD had just taught about how a child receives the kingdom in scripture just before this account is shared.
I'm not saying give up all of your money, I'm saying hear the LORD for what He is teaching us.
Meditate this prayerfully.
Mark 10:17:22
GOD IS GOOD!
LOVE Y'ALL :)
